Sequoyah High ROTC Cadets Honor Veterans

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA -- The Sequoyah High School Air Force Junior ROTC cadets recently participated in two special events that honored veterans in Cherokee County.

Five cadets attended a breakfast for local veterans at Woodstock's Johnson Elementary School, where they also raised the Colors in a special ceremony. Veterans from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam Conflict, and operations in Iraq and Afghanistan were honored by students and staff.

Another 32 cadets participated in a special flag presentation/folding ceremony and reading program at Holly Springs Elementary School.

One Holly Springs parent, a veteran of the Afghanistan Conflict, presented a flag that was flown in Afghanistan to the principal of Holly Springs Elementary to honor the sacrifices made by veterans.

The cadets went from classroom to classroom, reading to students and reminding them of the ways in which veterans ensure their freedoms.

The cadets had a wonderful time interacting with the elementary students and were honored to be part of two special events for veterans.
