Woodstock Police, First Baptist Church to Host Bikes for Kidz

WOODSTOCK, GA -- The Woodstock Police Department has joined forces with First Baptist Church of Woodstock to host "Bikes for Kidz" at this year's LoveLoud event.

LoveLoud is a community outreach event hosted by the church that involves over 2,500 volunteers serving on over 100 community service projects during the weekend of Friday, Oct. 22 to Sunday, Oct. 24. One such project includes showing appreciation for the community's police and fire departments.

Bob Turner, this year's LoveLoud senior project coordinator, and his mission volunteers have teamed up with Out Spokin' Bicycles and the Woodstock Police Department to accomplish the goal of refurbishing bicycles currently in police storage. The bicycles will then be given to local children at this year's Shop with a Cop event.

The police department currently has 15 bicycles and is looking for more to refurbish. To donate a new or used bicycle, bring it to the Middle School Warehouse Building at the First Baptist Church of Woodstock (11905 Highway 92, Woodstock, 30188) on Friday, Oct. 22 or Saturday, Oct. 23 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Arrangements may be made for a local pick-up for people who cannot make it to the church.

The Woodstock Police Department will also give helmets to the children who receive bicycles.
