American Idol winner Phillip Phillips to take KSU stage

KENNESAW, Ga. -- Artist Phillip Phillips will be live in concert at KSU Stadium on Sunday, March 24.

Phillip Phillips won the American Idol singing competition in its eleventh season, and released his debut singe "Home" that same year. The song was used as the theme song for the United States women's gymnastics team. 

Phillips released his first album in November 2012.

Chattahoochee Tech begins ESL program

MARIETTA, Ga. -- Chattahoochee Technical College will roll out a new program for non-native English-speaking students next month.

The Intensive English Program will feature classes in American culture and the English language, with a focus on grammar, writing, reading, speaking and listening. Students will learn in several environments, including a classroom, computer lab, library and from peer tutors.

"In the broad scope, the program will offer international students who currently attend or are interested in attending undergraduate programs in the United States the opportunity to improve their English language skills," Chattahoochee Tech ESL resource instructor Carol Glickman said in a statement.

Tuition for the Intensive English Program is $1,410 for full-time students, which includes 160 hours of instruction. There are also part-time options that cost $300 per class.

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- Author, speaker and radio host River Jordan will be teaching a writing class on Saturday, January 26th from 1-4pm at FoxTale Book Shoppe. Jordan gained initial popularity with readers through her well-received works of magical realism, the novels, The Messenger of Magnolia Street, The Miracle of Mercy Land and Saints in Limbo. But it was through the highly acclaimed publication of her first non-fiction narrative, Praying for Strangers, that she launched a new phase of her career as a bit of a spiritual guru.
