Coke partners with Firehouse Subs for national contest

ATLANTA -- Coca-Cola and Firehouse Subs are partnering for a national sweepstakes centered on stock car racing.

Coca-Cola is sponsoring the Coca-Cola Photo Finish sweepstakes at Firehouse Subs locations through Apr. 21.

During the contest, life-size cutouts of participating Coca-Cola Racing Family members will be placed in FIrehouse Subs locations. Firehouse Subs guests can snap a photo with the cutout and submit it to win. Guests can submit photos via text to cocacolaphotofinish.com, or entries can be mailed.

Participating drivers include Joey Logano, representing the Georgia and Gulf region; Greg Biffle, representing the West and Central region; Danica Patrick, representing the Florida region; Denny Hamlin, representing the South region; and Tony Stewart, representing the Mid-Atlantic region.

Bank of America adds 35 small biz bankers in Atlanta

ATLANTA -- Bank of America Corp. reported Wednesday it hit its target of hiring more that 1,000 small business bankers in 2012, including 35 in Metro Atlanta.

The Charlotte, N.C.-based bank said it extended $280.2 million in credit to Georgia small businesses and $8.7 billion nationally last year. The $8.7 billion was an increase of 28 percent over 2011.

It recently reported net income of $2.8 billion for 2012. It also saw its head count shrink by about 5,000 employees to 267,190 in the fourth quarter, evidence that BofA is still trimming staff levels as it works to lower its expenses. Branches also continued to close, with BofA reporting 5,478 banking centers across its U.S. franchise at the end of the year, down from 5,702 centers a year earlier. 

Bank of America is the third-largest bank in metro Atlanta with 145 local branches and $20.4 billion in area deposits for a market share of 17 percent.

Kennestone plans $23M outpatient surgery center in Woodstock

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- WellStar Kennestone Hospital has filed a letter of intent with the Georgia Department of Community Health for a proposed $23 million outpatient surgery center off Towne Lake Parkway in Woodstock.

Kennestone must submit an application for a certificate of need on Nov. 26.

Northside Hospital-Cherokee in October broke ground on a 100,817-square-foot, four-story medical office building on Towne Lake Parkway.

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- NexSlim Medical Weight Loss & Wellness Center at Towne Lake held its official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony with the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce on October 18, 2012.  Specializing in personalized weight loss plans, nutritional education, and support, NexSlim wants to help those struggling in their weight loss journey.  Dr. Jeffery Donohue is not only the national medical director for all NexSlim locations, but he is also the co-owner of the Woodstock location.  Dr. Donohue and Clinic Director Holli Edie along with their staff welcomed community and business leaders at the Ribbon Cutting.  Both Donohue and Edie offered words of welcome and appreciation.  Those present were able to learn about the NexSlim program and what sets it apart from the many other clinics out there.

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- Annually In October, Caribou Coffee honors Amy Erickson, one of Caribou's original roastmasters that passed away at a young age from breast cancer, by going pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Caribou offers its special Amy’s Blends along with other pink merchandise and gift cards, with a percentage of all proceeds going to various breast cancer causes.

Caribou Coffee will be brewing Amy's blend all month, have their Amy's tea back, and are featuring new bakery and drinkware items.

Woodstock store manager Jacqui Sands said, “We also honor everyone's Amy, as so many of us have been touched by those who have fought the battle against, or lost their lives to, breast cancer and other cancers.”

Woodstock Home Depot gives back

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- Thanks to The Home Depot, the students at Carmel Elementary will have a new game to play at their Fall Festival.  The Home Depot in Woodstock recently built a custom Plinko game for the students of Carmel Elementary School.  The Plinko Game, which originated on the Price is Right game show in 1983, is considered the most popular game on the long running game show and is sure to be a hit with the students and parents.  Last school year The Home Depot built Carmel a 9’ Wishing Well which was used in part to raise funds for the school to purchase a defibrillator as well as other staff appreciation events and a book drive for children in need in Cherokee County.
