Kennesaw, GA - June 28, 2011 – On Saturday, June 18th LearningRx Kennesaw was a platinum sponsor of The Golden Soldiers Big Day Out at the Acworth Sports Complex.  Close to 600 people attended the second annual free event which provided fun and excitement for children with special needs and their families.

BIG DAY OUT was held at the Acworth Sports Complex adjacent to the Horizon special needs field. The parking lot was filled with carnival games, inflatables, music, jugglers, a vendor walk, and a surprise visit from Freddie the Falcon and the Atlanta Falcon’s Cheerleaders.

“We are delighted to once again support The Golden Soldiers BIG DAY OOUT”, said Kristen Thompson, owner and director of LearningRx Kennesaw. “We enjoy being able to support such a wonderful organization that not only thinks of children and adults with special needs but of the families and care givers who support them.”

For many of the attendees, it can be a challenge to find venues and events geared only for children who may have a variety of disabilities. The free and fun events put on by The Golden Soldiers are making it easier for those who care for a special needs child or adult.

Founder and CEO Lindsey Turner’s vision of  putting into practice the “Golden Rule” has turned into a passion for helping families. “To have a parent come up to me and tell me that this was the first place they went where their child was treated with kindness, patience and understanding by all who attended is the ultimate compliment to me” said Turner. “Our vision is to reach more and more kids each year and to continue to bring joy and amusement to the special needs community ”.

The Golden Soldiers, along with community partner LearningRx sponsors sensory friendly movies throughout the year at the NCG cinemas in Acworth. Movies without trailers, the lights turned on and the volume down low have been a huge success. Once again it is all tied into Turner’s vision of doing all that he can to help kids with special needs just be kids and treating others the way he would like to be treated.
