Benefit Performance Raises $8000 for Compassion Programs

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- Unmasked: The Phantom of the Flopera, an original musical parody produced by The Spirit of Broadway, was a smashing success.  The congregation at First Metropolitan Community Church of Atlanta hosted Unmasked on Saturday, June 9th to benefit the church’s Compassion Programs, including its Food Bank, Weekly Hot Meal for the Homeless and Needy, the Clothing Closet and other outreach initiatives.  The benefit, now in its third year, raised a record breaking $8000 which is more than a 30% increase over prior years.  Unmasked was so well-received that The Spirit of Broadway is currently in negotiations with two Atlanta area theatres to produce a finalized version of the show this fall or winter, including an original parody score.

Smoothie King raising money for Bert's Big Adventure

ATLANTA -- Smoothie King locations across metro Atlanta are spending the entire month of June raising money for Bert's Big Adventure.

Customers who give $1 to the non-profit will receive a $2 "bounce back" coupon from Smoothie King.

The goal is to raise at least $5,000 by the end of the month.

Bert's Big Adventure, which was founded by Bert Weiss of Q100's "The Bert Show," sends children with chronic and terminal illnesses on an all-expense-paid trip to Walt Disney World.

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- Ms. Polly Hines, a kindergarten teacher at Johnston Elementary School, is retiring on a natural pizza high.  Ms. Hines's kindergarten class didn't win a free pizza party just once or twice, but every single month during the school year!  Ms. Hines retired at the end of this school year after many years of service to the students in Cherokee County. Stevi B's presented Ms. Hines with a card for Free Pizza for a Year as a special thank you and retirement gift.

Carmel Elementary Raises over $6000 for Relay for Life

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- The staff and students at Carmel Elementary take the fight for a cancer cure seriously throughout the school year.  Each year the staff at Carmel organizes a Relay for Life team who help raise money throughout the school year.  This year’s team was co-captained by Jami Gilliam and Margaret Duke while Deb Krug, Tracy Roach, Janet Price, Robbin Walker, Amanda Owen, and Audrey Craig made up the rest of this dynamic team.  In addition to raising money to find a cure, the Relay Team wanted to increase awareness as well as celebrate the Carmel survivors.
