Woodstock Man Arrested for Child Molestation

WOODSTOCK, GA -- On Friday, Sept. 24, Woodstock Police detectives arrested 37-year-old Robert Hanshaw of Woodstock and charged him with one count of aggravated child molestation.

Hanshaw is accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old family member at a Woodstock extended stay hotel in late August.

The complaint, which was filed by the child's legal guardian, was reported originally to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. The case was transferred to Woodstock Police detectives, since the hotel is located within the corporate limits of Woodstock.

Hanshaw remains in custody without bond at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.

Three Men Arrested for Armed Robbery at Woodstock Hotel

WOODSTOCK, GA -- On Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 3:32 a.m., Woodstock police officers responded to a report of an armed robbery and motor vehicle hijacking at Suburban Extended Stay Hotel (106 Woodpark Boulevard, Woodstock, 30188).

The victim, 30-year-old Enrique Alba of Woodstock, told police that three men brandishing firearms and a knife stole his red 2003 GM Sierra pickup truck from the parking lot of the hotel.

At 3:51 a.m., Cherokee County Sheriff's Office deputies spotted the stolen vehicle traveling south on I-575 in Canton. The driver of the stolen pickup, later identified as 28-year-old Michael Joseph Sherlock of Augusta, Georgia, fled from police. Utilizing the Pursuit Intervention Technique maneuver, a Holly Springs police officer successfully ended the pursuit on Sixes Road at Bells Ferry Road in unincorporated Cherokee County.

The front seat passenger of the stolen truck was identified as 33-year-old Sean Robert Bussard of Hephzibah, Georgia.

Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested in Pennsylvania

WOODSTOCK, GA -- Woodstock police investigators were notified on Sept. 15 that Matthew Belcher, 38, the suspect identified in the robbery of a local Wachovia Bank, was arrested without incident by the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department in Pennsylvania.

The original incident occured on Thursday, July 29 at 5:00 p.m., when Woodstock police responded to a robbery at the Wachovia Bank at 12172 Highway 92, Woodstock, 30188. According to bank officials, the suspect entered the bank at approximately 4:55 p.m. He approached the teller, presented a note demanding a specific amount of money and threatened to harm employees and customers. He fled the bank in a gold Dodge Neon with New Jersey license plates.

Belcher, of Kennesaw, Georgia, will be held in Pennsylvania on fugitive warrants until extradition orders can be obtained.

He is charged with armed robbery.

Marietta Man Arrested for Drug Possession

ACWORTH, GA -- A Cherokee Sheriff's deputy patrolling Bells Ferry Rd. near Hwy 92 Thursday night stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, the deputy discovered multiple violations, which led to the arrest of the driver, Tony Clark, 40, of Texarkana, AR, and both passengers, David Dejerinett, 31, of Marietta, GA and Evelyn Fitts, 31, of Jefferson, TX.

In addition to locating small amounts of marijuana and methamphetamine, deputies discovered numerous items in the vehicle, including substances used to manufacture meth. It is believed the suspects were transporting the items to a meth lab. CMANS agents were called to the scene to investigate the incident.

All three suspects are in custody without bond at the Cherokee Adult Detention Center. Clark was charged with Driving without a License, Unauthorized Use of a License Plate, No Tag Light, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana and Manufacturing Methamphetamine.
