WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- Woodstock Police are asking for the public's help in locating a forgery suspect from Atlanta.

Investigators secured warrants Monday for 39-year-old Avril Guice, charging her with two counts of first-degree forgery for passing fake checks from the checking account at Chattahoochee Gold Aquatic Center.

Police said Guice made unauthorized withdrawals from the business' account, using several fake checks to take approximately $6,000. The business owner reported the missing money to Woodstock Police on Aug. 12.

Surveillance cameras at banks in Atlanta and Decatur captured images of Guice cashing the checks. Investigators said the suspect processed the checks through her daughter's bank account as well as her own.

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- Woodstock Police are looking for a local man suspected of stealing and using a woman's debit card.

The victim reported her wallet missing on Sept. 18; she told police that she believed it fell through the cushions of the seats at Cherokee 16 Cinemas on Buckhead Crossing, where she was seeing a movie.

Two days later, the woman learned that a debit card in her wallet had been used at several stores, including CVS, on Towne Lake Parkway, according to police.

Video surveillance from the CVS showed 28-year-old Terrance May using the card. He worked at the movie theater where the victim lost her wallet; when police tried to arrest him at work, he managed to get away.

May faces charges of theft, identity fraud and credit card fraud.

Anyone who sees him or knows his whereabouts is asked to call Woodstock Police at 770-592-6030.

WOODSTOCK, Ga. – Twenty-year-old Megan Elizabeth Crutchfield was arrested on Tuesday, October 17 for check fraud. According to investigators, Crutchfield stole checks and cashed them without the victim’s knowledge.

Officers met with the victim who stated that Crutchfield had stolen two of her checks and cashed them, each for the amount of $60.00 and according to the Woodstock Police; both checks were endorsed by her.

Crutchfield was arrested and charged with theft by taking and two counts of forgery in the first degree. Crutchfield was transported to Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.  Her bond is set for $5,300.00.  She is still in custody.

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- Investigators with the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office have arrested a man accused of selling stolen home appliances.

Adam Mazur was arrested Thursday morning at the Home Depot on Highway 92 in Woodstock. Authorities said the 42-year-old Macon man tried to sell a stolen range, oven and dishwasher to an undercover detective.

The appliances were discovered missing from a foreclosed home on Hardwood Lane in Ball Ground on Oct. 10, when a real estate agent took a prospective buyer through the house, according to police. A Fannie Mae employee later found the appliances for sale on Craigslist in a posting created by the suspect.

As of Thursday evening, Mazur is in the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center on $25,700 bond.

ATLANTA -- Two local men were arrested Wednesday for their roles in a national identity theft ring.

Robert A. Smith, 46, was taken into custody at his Atlanta condo, while 49-year-old Robert A. Hill was arrested at his home in Roswell.

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -- An 86-year-old North Carolina preacher has been charged with molesting his own granddaughter, who lives in Metro Atlanta.

Clarence Caldwell Arquitt, Jr. was arrested 12 years after the crimes allegedly occurred. His granddaughter, who is now in her 20's, reported the abuse to Sandy Springs police this August.

After an investigation, the Sanford, N.C. man was charged with molesting his granddaughter on several occasions over the course of eight years. Police said the incidents occurred between 1991, when the victim was three years old, and 1999.

Police said the girl was molested at Arquitt's residence in Sandy Springs from 1996 to 1999. Prior to 1996, she was molested at his then-home in Woodstock.

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- An 18-year-old woman was charged with forgery and identity theft at a Cherokee County bank after she was arrested in Tifton, Ga.

Investigators said Megan Leigh Walker deposited two fraudulent checks totaling $1,812.60 into a third party account at Ameris Bank in Woodstock on Aug. 31. The checks were in a purse that had been stolen from a woman's car in Jekyll Island.

Walker, who is from Ashburn, Ga. near Albany, also withdrew $600 from the same bank account.

She was arrested Sept. 6 while attempting to defraud another victim from Valdosta.

Walker was charged with three counts of first degree forgery and three counts of identity fraud. She is being held in the Tift County Jail.
