N.C. car thieves arrested in Cherokee Co.

CHEROKEE CO., Ga. -- Three teenagers were arrested Tuesday morning in Cherokee County on suspicion of stealing a car in North Carolina.

Authorities in Waynesville, N.C. notified Cherokee 911 that a cell phone in the stolen car had transmitted from a cell tower in Ball Ground, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.

A sheriff's deputy soon spotted the stolen Jaguar on Interstate 575 south and pulled it over near the Bells Ferry off-ramp. Investigators determined that all three teens in the car were "willing participants in the joy ride" and were on their way to Florida, according to police.

The driver, 19-year-old Dustin Surrett, had outstanding warrants in Haywood County, N.C. He and a passenger, 17-year-old Tessa Upton, were charged with theft by receiving and booked into the Cherokee County Jail.

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- Two faculty members at River Ridge High School in Woodstock have been arrested on charges relating to the sexual assault of a former student.

Robert Leslie Morrow, 28, of Canton turned himself in to Woodstock police Thursday morning. Morrow, a paraprofessional and wrestling coach at River Ridge, performed a sex act with a 16-year-old student in December 2010, according to investigators.

He confessed to the act during an interview with detectives, Woodstock police said.

Investigators also arrested a River Ridge teacher, 32-year-old Kristin May of Canton, at the school district's print shop in Holly Springs Thursday morning. The victim told May about the sexual assault in January, but May failed to report it to police, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.

Both suspects are in custody at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- A 17-year-old Woodstock woman was arrested Tuesday after stabbing a family friend.

Deputies with the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a house on Williamsburg Lane in Woodstock, where they discovered the victim, 43-year-old Maggie Fulton.

Fulton told investigators that she was stabbed by Vanessa White. Police believe the incident stemmed from an argument involving White, Fulton and Fulton's two children.

The victim was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Less than two hours later, police found White at a local pool and arrested her without incident.

White was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, burglary and possession of a knife. She is being held without bond at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.

UPDATE: J.R. Zeock was taken into custody around 3:45 this morning.

He was captured in Norcross after a resident recognized him during a news broadcast and called the police.

"This is a prime example of how effective partnerships can work between local agencies, the media and citizens," said Woodstock Police Chief David Bores. "Thanks to the help from the media and citizens, we were able to locate Zeock in a matter of hours and take him into custody."

Zeock is currently in the Gwinnett County Jail. He will soon be released and transported to the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- Woodstock Police are looking for a 61-year-old man accused of setting a teenager on fire during a sex act.

Investigators say Joseph Raymond "J.R." Zeock promised to pay a 17-year-old boy for sex.

Man arrested for threatening to kill 2 women

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- A Sandy Springs man was arrested after allegedly threatening two women at a Kroger in Woodstock.

Richard Booher was arrested Tuesday by a Sandy Springs police officer who recognized him from a lookout bulletin.

According to the investigation, the 53-year-old suspect threatened to kill two women in the parking lot of the Kroger at 2295 Towne Lake Parkway on June 20.

Police said the women were attempting to give water to Booher's dog, which was locked inside the suspect's car. The victims told investigators that the dog appeared to be overheated and in distress.

Booher began making the threats when he discovered the two women near his car, according to the investigation. Woodstock police officers were able to secure arrest warrants for him after he was positively identified by witnesses.

The suspect was transported to the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center after his arrest in Sandy Springs.

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- Officers in Cherokee County have arrested a man for possession of child pornography and a woman for stealing a wallet during a church service.

On Friday, June 17, a French national was returned to Woodstock after more than a year of hearings in Canada, where authorities say he was trying to flee to his homeland.

Patrick Molesti, 58, was living in Woodstock in March 2010 when officers say he attempted to purchase a five-year-old child online.

He was arrested on a bus in Thunder Bay, Canada by U.S. Marshals and Canadian authorities.

"We are pleased that Molesti has been extradited back to Cherokee County to stand trial for these charges. We appreciate the assistance of the Canadian authorities in capturing Molesti and the U.S.

Wanted Woodstock man arrested in Florida

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- A man wanted for kidnapping and aggravated assault in Woodstock has been arrested in Florida.

Jacob Harris, 27, was wanted for allegedly beating up the mother of his child.

The incident happened on May 11 at a home off Skyridge Drive in Woodstock. The victim told police that she and a friend were dropping off the child when Harris began hitting them and would not allow them to leave.

Harris ran from the scene before police arrived. Witness statement led officers to issue warrants for his arrest.

Harris faces charges of aggravated assault, battery, kidnapping, entering auto and cruelty to children. He is currently in custody in Manatee County, Florida.
