Important notice from Cherokee County Schools

CHEROKEE CO., Ga. -- The Cherokee County School District has released a memo to anyone who plans to attend the June 16 school board meeting.

The 7 p.m. meeting will begin with student recognition. The District would like anyone who attends the meeting to discuss Cherokee Charter Academy to wait outside the building until the recognized students and their parents have been accommodated.

After the recognition wraps and the room clears, the meeting will continue with public participation and other agenda items.

WEEKEND EVENTS: Gone with the Wind, RENT and Six Flags

MARIETTA, Ga. -- There are tons of fun events going on this weekend, in your area. We’ve listed a few of them for you to check out with your family and friends.

The Marietta Gone with the Wind museum is hosting their 75th Anniversary on Saturday morning. The museum has planned a huge celebration and two actors and an actress will be a part of the festivities. The actors will be signing autographs from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.  And a swap meet will be held from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. The event costs $35; however, the celebrities may charge a fee for their signatures. The museum is located at 18 Whitlock Avenue in Marietta.

- Previously, we listed the 75th Anniversary Gone with the Wind event at the Marietta Gone with the Wind Museum as free; however, admission to the event was $35 per person. We apologize for whatever confustion this may have caused.

MARIETTA-- There are tons of fun events going on this weekend, in your area. We’ve listed a few of them for you to check out with your family and friends.

Come out and enjoy a movie on the Marietta Square. At the Earl Smith Strand Theatre in Marietta, the 2002 film “Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood” will be screened at 8 p.m. on Friday, June 3.

The Aurora Theatre is hosting a play called, “Over the River and Through the Woods” about Hoboken, New Jersey, an Italian-American neighborhood with a tradition of eating dinner at the Gianelli’s house. It continues through June 5.  

Rock station 97.1 is hosting The River Wing ‘N Rock Fest at Woodstock City Park on Saturday, June 4. The festival features tons of wings, beer and tribute bands with the comfort of being outside.

Cherokee County's high school seniors will graduate this weekend. All ceremonies will take place at First Baptist Church of Woodstock (11905 Highway 92, 30188).

CANTON, Ga. -- The Cherokee County School District has planned a special banquet to honor this year's valedictorians and salutatorians.

The event will be at 7 p.m.

Chattahoochee Tech graduation is June 16

ATLANTA -- Chattahoochee Technical College is gearing up for its spring graduation ceremony.

Approximately 1,200 students will graduate at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 16 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.

This year's featured speaker will be Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens.
