'B at the Movies' this summer

ATLANTA -- Looking for some free family fun this summer?

ALDI and radio station B98.5 will present the "B at the Movies" outdoor movie series at several locations throughout metro Atlanta all summer long.

Everyone is invited to bring their blankets and chairs to the participating parks and watch the family-friendly movies on giant inflatable screens. Movies begin at dusk, but come out early for activities and giveaways.

The 2012 B at the Movies schedule includes:

Weekend showcase geared toward seniors

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- The Cherokee County Recreation Center will host an extravaganza for local seniors this weekend.

Everyone is invited to come down to the center for a showcase of products and services, including health screenings, a fashion show, demonstrations, entertainment and food. Admission is free and includes all-day bingo and door prize drawings.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5. It is sponsored by Cherokee Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (S.A.L.T.).

3,000 students to benefit from back-to-school blast

CHEROKEE CO., Ga. -- Nearly 3,000 children have pre-registered for this year's Give a Kid a Chance back-to-school blast.

Give a Kid a Chance is an outreach program that, with the help of more than 400 volunteers, provides filled backpacks, haircuts, new clothes and medical screenings to Cherokee County students in need.

"We want to make sure each student has everything he or she needs to have a successful school year," said Cheryl Ruffer, co-founder of Give a Kid a Chance.

Woodstock upholds ATV ordinance

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- Beginning this weekend, Woodstock Police will aggressively enforce the city's all-terrain vehicle ordinance on trail systems, especially in and around Rope Mill Park.

Officers plan to patrol the area to reduce ATV damage to public trails. In addition to being a safety issue, these incidents also have major economic and environmental impacts.

ATV riders face several potential citations, including a $1,000 fine and their ATVs being impounded.

Examples of ATVs include off-road motorcycles, three-wheelers and four-wheelers.
