Carmel Scientists Place 1st in County Meet | Schools

The Carmel Maroon Team finished first at the Cherokee County Science Olympiad Competition on March 24, 2012 hosted at Creekview High School. They faced stiff competition from 34 teams. The Science Olympiad Team practiced regularly and dilligently since the fall under the direction of faculty coaches-Merry Willis, Margie Burt, and Diane Clark. This group of dedicated scientists stayed after school and met on weekends to learn the material. The students hard work and dedication paid off as they brought the championship title home. Principal Dr. Keith Bryant said, "We are all very proud of these students and their faculty coaches for their hard work. Way to go, Carmel Colts!"
Individual winners were:
1st Place in Disease Detectives – Kyle Pederson and William Skeens
1st Place in Grab a Gram – Bryce Clark and Andrew Brandenburg
2nd Place in A is for Anatomy – Greg Carroll and Sophia Loconto
2nd Place in Large Number Estimation – Greg Carroll and Matthew Garcia
2nd Place in Simple Machines – Greg Carroll and Matthew Garcia
2nd Place in Mystery Boxes – Katie Hartman and Gage Hawkins
