WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- The 3rd annual Runing of the Colts brough out 138 racers on the brisk fall morning of Oct. 27 in Woodstock.  The race included a 5K component as well as a 1-mile component.  The 5K winner was Ethan Woodyard  17:50 and the ladies winner was Taylor Poole  21:35.  The 1-mile winner was Mike Hegman 7:07.

The event raised approximately $1,450 which was divided among the Woodstock High School Cross Country and the Carmel Elementary School Running Club. Caribou Coffee donated coffee for the event and Panera Bread donated bagels. Local businesses provided donations, product and support so that each runner received a nice swag bag.

This event brought together students, Cherokee County School District staff, parents, community members, and local businesses. It truly embodied community spirit.  One of the race organizers Jeff Garrison said, "We would like to thank everyone that came out today. Hopefully, a good time was had by all. A big thanks goes out to Coach Krug from Carmel Elementary and Coach Scharich from Woodstock High School. A special thanks goes out to the volunteers. Without you, we could not have pulled off this race. We look forward to making next year's just as fun or better!"
